Nation’s Largest Bereavement Camp Holds Local Weekend Camp To Make A Difference In The Lives Of Bereaved Children
Comfort Zone Camp Embodies Mission of Make a Difference Day
What: The nation’s largest nonprofit bereavement camp for children, Comfort Zone Camp® (CZC), invites you to see our volunteers in action as they make a difference in the lives of grieving children on Make a Difference Day, the largest national day of helping others.
CZC provides a safe and fun place for children to grieve by combining summer camp fun with group grief counseling. The camps are almost completely reliant on volunteer support, with volunteers stepping into the role of big buddies (the campers’ anchors, mentors and friends), therapists, arts and crafts helpers, musicians, camp nurses, recreational assistants, and youth mentors.
Camps are staffed by about 90 trained and screened volunteers. Currently CZC has more than 1,000 volunteer positions, adding up to more than 60,000 volunteer hours per year.
