Comfort Zone Camp first came to the New Jersey/New York area as a response to September 11th.
In 2001, Comfort Zone had been holding bereavement camps in Virginia for three years. After September 11th, we knew our services were needed to help the thousands of children who lost a parent in New York area due to the terrorist attacks.
On November 10, 2001, Comfort Zone held its first camp in New Jersey. In 2002, we held five camps in the New Jersey/New York area, all serving children who lost family members in 9/11. In April 2005, we opened the New Jersey camps to serve all grieving children in addition to those whose loss was due to September 11.
